New report: IP and the U.S. economy in 2024

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has released the latest edition of its report highlighting the economic contributions of industries that predominantly rely on intellectual property (IP) protection, including patents, trademark, and copyright. The new report, titled “Intellectual property and the U.S. economy in 2024,” found that 128 IP-intensive industries—in sectors such as manufacturing; wholesale and retail trade; and professional, management and administrative services—accounted for $11.4 trillion in U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) in 2024. That represents 44% of private sector GDP.
