PALM Database Oracle Upgrades

The OCIO will perform maintenance affecting multiple systems beginning at 12:01 a.m., Sunday, February 26 and ending at 11:59 p.m., Sunday, February 26 ET.

Affected systems include: Patent Application Locating and Monitoring (PALM) EXPO, PALM Pre-exam, Image File Wrapper (IFW)/MADRAS, and Office Action Correspondence Subsystem (OACS). A more complete listing of affected systems is listed at the end of this announcement.

Patent Examiners will not be able to post Office Actions during the outage. Please check system status availability herebefore posting.

Patent Examiners, Patent Support Staff and Managers should plan their work accordingly.

NOTE: During the outage, Patent Examiners will still be able to view and search applications using Docket and Application Viewer (DAV) and the search systems of EAST and WEST.

If you plan to work hours during the day on Sunday, you should prepare by taking steps to have alternate work available.

These PALM upgrades will require no action by the user.

Additional Information

The OCIO anticipates that:

  • Microsoft Outlook will be available
  • Virtual Private Network (VPN) connectivity will be available including users with Small Office, Home Office (SOHO) routers
