Planned Events

Patent Public Search System (PPUBs) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on PPUBs from 12:01 a.m. until 2 a.m. on Saturday, November 4 ET. 

During this maintenance period, PPUBs will be unavailable.

Patent Electronic Filing System – Web (EFS-Web) Maintenance

The OCIO will perform maintenance on EFS-Web from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday, November 5 ET.

During this maintenance period, Fee Worksheets and Acknowledgement Receipts for submissions will not be generated.

Applicants may file submissions in EFS-Web during this time but wait until Monday for those documents to be generated. Applicants may still file submissions via Patent Center.

Credit Card Payment Maintenance

Due to third-party system maintenance activities, credit/debit card payments will not be accepted from 6 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, November 4 ET.  

During the maintenance period, the following USPTO storefronts will be unable to accept credit/debit card payments:

    • Electronic Filing System-Web (EFS-Web)

    • Electronic Filing System-Web Contingency (EFS-Web Contingency)

    • Patent Center

    • Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (P-TACTS)

    • Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront (FPNG)

    • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)

    • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASI)

    • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)

    • Electronic Trademark Assignment Search (ETAS)

    • Office of Enrollment and Discipline Customer Interface (OEDCI)

    • Certified Copy Center (CCC)

Customers with an already established USPTO Deposit Account or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Account may still pay using one of these payment methods during the maintenance window.

If you are unable to wait until the maintenance activity has concluded to pay a fee, the following alternative options are available:

Support for the online fee payment management system, and USPTO.gov accounts, is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET (except federal holidays).

PTAB Customers: If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending America Invents Act (AIA) case and you cannot file electronically via the Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System, (P-TACTS) you may use an alternative filing method. Please visit the PTAB-E2E FAQ page: https://www.uspto.gov/patents/ptab/patent-trial-and-appeal-board-ptab-faqs and see A2 for information concerning your America Invents Act (AIA) petition filing and/or document filing using P-TACTS alternative filing methods. Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting multiple systems from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7 ET.

During this maintenance period, availability of Supplemental Content data for new applications and follow-ons filed will be delayed in Patent Center and Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (Private PAIR).

Please check Patent Center or Private PAIR after the maintenance period for confirmation of availability of the Supplemental Content Data.

Trilateral Dossier Access (TDA) Maintenance
The USPTO will perform maintenance on the TDA systems from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7 ET.

During the maintenance period, TDA will be unavailable.

Integrated Quality System (IQS) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the IQS systems from 12 a.m. until 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 8 ET.

During the maintenance period, IQS will be unavailable.

Users should save all work and log off before the maintenance period begins.

Patent Office Action to XML (P-OA2XML) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the P-OA2XML systems from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8 ET.

During the maintenance period, DOCX and XML downloads will not be available in Private PAIR and Patent Center.

Users should save all work and log off before the maintenance period begins.

Patent Electronic Filing System-Web (EFS-Web) and Patent Application Information Retrieval (Private-PAIR) Retirement

The USPTO will retire EFS-Web (including EFS-Web Registered, EFS-Unregistered and EFS-Web contingency) and Private-PAIR and will no longer be available onward from 12:01 a.m., Wednesday, November 8 ET.

Users should submit any saved submissions prior to EFS-Web retirement on November 8. After the retirement date, saved submissions cannot be accessed.  Users should use Patent Center starting 12:01 a.m., Wednesday, November 8 ET, to access available applications and documents.
