Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform routine maintenance affecting several systems from midnight- 9 a.m. ET on Saturday, August 17. 

The following systems and systems that interface with these systems will be unavailable during the maintenance period:

  • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)
  • Office of Enrollment and Discipline Roster of Patent Attorneys/Agents (OEDCI)
  • Patent Center and Sponsorship tool
  • Patent Trial and Appeal Tracking System (P-TACTS)
  • Publication Site for Issued and Published Sequences (PSIPS)
  • Financial Manager and Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront
  • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)
  • Trademark Official Gazette (TMOG)
  • Trademark Trial and Appeal Board VUE (TTABVUE)

The maintenance will also cause interruptions to payment processing for users of the ESTTA, the Electronic Trademark Assignment Search (ETAS), the Order Entry Management System (OEMS), and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End to End (PTAB-E2E).

P-TACTS Customers:

If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending AIA case and you cannot file electronically via the Patent Trial and Appeal Tracking System (P-TACTS), you may use an alternative filing method. Please visit the alternate filing method page at https://www.uspto.gov/patents/apply/filing-online/filing-documents-during-outage#PTAB%20E2E for information concerning your AIA petition filing and/or document filing using P-TACTS alternative filing methods. Trademark Customers:

If your deadline is today and the document requiring a fee payment cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing. Credit Card Payment Maintenance

The USPTO will perform routine maintenance on credit/debit card payments from 6-10 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 17. 

During the maintenance period, the following USPTO storefronts will be unable to accept credit/debit card payments:

  • Patent Center (PC)
  • Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (P-TACTS)
  • Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront (FPNG)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASI)
  • Trademark Center-beta (TC)
  • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)
  • Assignment Center (IPAS)
  • Office of Enrollment and Discipline Customer Interface (OEDCI)
  • Certified Copy Center (CCC)

Customers with an already established USPTO Deposit Account or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Account may still pay using one of these payment methods during the maintenance period.

If you are unable to wait until the maintenance activity has concluded to pay a fee, the following alternative options are available:

Fee Payment Processing Maintenance

The USPTO will perform routine maintenance affecting fee
payment processing from midnight-
a.m. ET on Saturday, August 17.

During the maintenance period, fee payments cannot be
accepted by the following USPTO storefronts:


  • Certified Copy Center (CCC)

  • Assignment Center (IPAS)

  • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and
    Appeals (ESTTA)

  • Office of Enrollment and Discipline -
    Customer Interface (OEDCI)

  • Patent Center (PC)

  • Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront
    (FPNG-PMFS)

  • Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking
    System (PTACTS)

  • Trademark Electronic Application System
    (TEAS)

  • Trademark Electronic Application System
    International (TEASi) 

  • Trademark Center-beta (TC)

In addition, the Financial Manager system will not be
available during the maintenance windows, and any recent transactions may not
be displayed immediately.
