Stephanie Klixbull and Dr. Sequoyah Wharton (far right), and their team won “Best Overall Pitch” in the NSTI 2024 Invention Challenge. Their group came up with an idea for producing a new beverage sourced from duckweed called “Quacktail Delight.” They created a trademark, designed a logo, wrote a jingle, and put together a pitch for judges. The Invention Challenge is always a highlight for NSTI participants and is a great example of something that teachers can bring back to their classroom.
Are you curious about how the USPTO’s National Summer Teacher Institute (NSTI) can unlock new possibilities for your classroom and transform your teaching career? Join us Tuesday, January 28, from 6-7:30 p.m. ET for an informational webinar about the program. Two NSTI 2024 alumni, Stephanie Klixbull and Sequoyah Wharton, will share their experiences and how they brought what they learned into their classrooms. USPTO education staff will also walk through the application process and answer any questions you may have.
NSTI is a free, unique professional development experience that provides the tools you need to unlock the power of invention and intellectual property education. Participants learn strategies for implementing invention in their classrooms that give students the skills, mindset, and confidence they need to reach their potential. Learn more and apply today on our NSTI webpage. Applications are due March 31.
