Patent Pro Bono Program: Pathways to inclusive innovation
Join us at our next Patent Pro Bono Program: Pathways to inclusive innovation event Friday, April 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET, virtually or in person at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
During this event, leaders in the intellectual property (IP) and small-business community will share their stories and tips on how to protect your IP via patents and trademarks. We welcome all current and aspiring entrepreneurs for sessions focused on:
- Patents and trademark basics
- Free legal services
- Federal resources for small businesses
Registration is free and on a first-come, first-served basis. All participants must register to attend.
The Patent Pro Bono Program is a nationwide network of not-for-profit regional programs that match financially under-resourced inventors and small businesses with registered patent practitioners who volunteer their time to prepare and file patent applications. The 20 regional programs provide services to inventors in all 50 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico.
“By expanding access to free legal services through our pro bono program, we can help more under-resourced and underrepresented innovators protect their ideas and bring them to impact," said Derrick Brent, Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Deputy Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. "By meeting people where they are, providing opportunity and resources, we grow the innovation ecosystem, which is one of our top priorities.”
Registration for the event will remain open until 9 a.m. ET on April 12. A detailed agenda with speakers is forthcoming and will be posted on the event page.
Immediately following the USPTO’s portion of the event, the Pro Bono Advisory Council will be holding a follow-on program, which is also open to the public at no charge.
