Decrease in Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) fees

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) fee schedule was updated with the following changes, effective January 1:

Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) fees to foreign offices

International application fees (Chapter I)

  • 1702: International filing fee (first 30 pages) – fee decrease from $1,515 to $1,454
  • 1701: International filing fee (first 30 pages – filed electronically without ePCT or PCT-EASY .zip file) – fee decrease from $1,401 to $1,345
  • 1710: International filing fee (first 30 pages – filed electronically with ePCT or PCT-EASY .zip file) – fee decrease from $1,287 to $1,235
  • 1703: Supplemental fee (for each page over 30) – fee decrease from $17 to $16

International Search fees (Chapter I)

  • 1704: International search, European Patent Office (EPO) as International Searching Authority (ISA) – fee decrease from $1,875 to $1,870
  • 1709: International search, Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) as ISA – fee decrease from $924 to $879
  • 1712: International search, IP Australia (IPAU) as ISA – fee decrease from $1,411 to $1,407
  • 1715: International search, Israel Patent Office (ILPO) as ISA – fee decrease from $998 to $997
  • 1716: International search, Japan Patent Office (JPO) as ISA – fee decrease from $1,167 to $1,129
  • 1717: International search, Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) as ISA – fee decrease from $1,664 to $1,633

International application fees (Chapter II)

  • 1705: Handling fee – fee decrease from $228 to $219
  • 1706: Handling fee – 90% reduction, if applicant meets criteria specified on the WIPO table – fee decrease from $22.80 to $21.90
