Next week: Promoting a culture of DEIA in the workplace and in inventorship

Many firms and companies have taken initial steps to create programs that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). However, how do you move beyond just having a diversity committee or a diversity manager for your company or firm and cultivate a workplace environment that actively pursues the integration of DEIA principles as part of its culture?

Come join United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) personnel and intellectual property (IP) professionals in person at the University of Minnesota Law School or online for a discussion about how to promote a culture of DEIA in your workplace and in inventorship on Tuesday, January 10, from 2:30-4 p.m. CT. Hope Shimabuku, Regional Director of the USPTO's Texas Regional Office, will moderate this event.

Topics will include:

  • Recent USPTO studies on
    • Women inventor rate
    • Ties between the economy and IP ownership
  • Highlights of Santa Clara University’s white paper on Diversity in Innovation Best Practices Guide

Register early, as the event will offer 30 seats for in person attendance and 1,000 spaces for virtual registrants.

You can learn more about how the USPTO is actively working to reach people where they are on our Inclusive innovation landing page.
