Comments sought on draft international principles for organizations developing advanced AI systems
Responses requested by October 24 on recently published draft guidelines
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is working with the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) and the Department of State to gather public input on draft guiding principles for organizations developing advanced artificial intelligence (AI) systems, created through the G7 Hiroshima Artificial Intelligence Process. One of the areas of focus has been the need to safeguard IP and copyright.
Specifically, we are seeking:
- Suggestions to add new principles to the list or modify the existing ones
- Measures that should be adopted to support responsible innovation, accountability, and public confidence in the voluntary guiding principles or future voluntary Code of Conduct
- Risks related to advanced AI that are not, but should be, specifically addressed in this G7 process
- Additional details that would be most important to include in an eventual voluntary international Code of Conduct
Please submit comments on the DOC webpage no later than 11:59 p.m. ET, Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
