LEAP 2nd anniversary and recognition event

You are invited to join the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in virtually celebrating the second year of the Legal Experience and Advancement Program (LEAP) on Thursday, August 11 at 4 p.m. ET. 

LEAP enables junior practitioners to secure oral argument experience in actual cases—both ex parte appeals and America Invents Act (AIA) trial proceedings. LEAP was launched in May 2020, and since then, 135 practitioners have presented arguments and honed their craft. We will recognize these LEAPers at the celebration.

Additionally, there will be a variety of speakers to share information, successes, and anecdotes. Speakers include:

• Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO Kathi Vidal
• Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) Chief Judge Scott Boalick
• PTAB Deputy Chief Judge Jackie Bonilla
• Former PTAB Judge and Block Litigation Counsel Kamran Jivani
• United States International Trade Commission (ITC) Chief Judge Clark Cheney
