USPTO to begin issuing electronic trademark registration certificates

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) plans to start issuing electronic trademark registration certificates in spring 2022. Upon issuance, the electronic registration certificates will be the official registration certificates. To learn more and to submit comments, please see the Federal Register Notice. We will accept comments from the public until January 14, 2022. Please note that the deadline to submit written comments is incorrect in the published notice. The correct comment period end date is January 14, 2022. The Office of the Federal Register will issue a correction notice soon to address this error.

For more on how we're modernizing the way we issue patents and trademark registrations, read the recent blog by Drew Hirshfeld, performing the Functions and Duties of the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO.
