PALM Database Maintenance
The OCIO will perform maintenance affecting multiple systems beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday February 23 and ending at 11:59 p.m., Saturday, February 23 ET.
Affected systems include: Patent Application Locating and Monitoring (PALM) EXPO, PALM Pre-exam, Image File Wrapper (IFW)/MADRAS, Official Correspondence (PE2E-OC) and Office Action Correspondence Subsystem (OACS). A more complete listing of affected systems is listed at the end of this announcement.
Patent Examiners will not be able to post Office Actions from OC and OACS during the outage. Please check system status availability here before posting.
Patent Examiners, Patent Support Staff and Managers should plan their work accordingly.
NOTE: During the outage, Patent Examiners will still be able to view and search applications using Docket and Application Viewer (DAV) and the search systems of EAST and WEST and the new Search4P.
If you plan to work hours during the day on Saturday, you should prepare by taking steps to have alternate work available.
The PALM maintenance will require no action by the user.
Additional Information
The OCIO anticipates that:
- Microsoft Outlook will be available
- Virtual Private Network (VPN) connectivity will be available including users with Small Office, Home Office (SOHO) routers

Patent assignments will be unavailable in AOTW and AHD. Global Dossier and One Portfolio Dossier will not be able to retrieve the Document Images, but will otherwise remain available during the maintenance period.
In EAST, links or data fields that reference PALM fields will not function during the maintenance.
