Planned Events

Certified Copy Center Replacing OEMS (Impact to Private/Public PAIR, AppFT and PatFT during the Maintenance Period)

The USPTO is replacing the Order Entry Management System (OEMS) shopping cart with the Certified Copy Center. The expected launch will begin at 6 p.m., Friday April 26 and end at 6 a.m., Saturday, April 27 ET.

The following systems will be unavailable beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, April 27 and ending at 6 a.m., Saturday, April 27 ET:

  • Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (Private PAIR)
  • Public Patent Application Information Retrieval (Public PAIR)
  • Application Full Text (AppFT)
  • Patent Full Text on the Web (PatFT)

 

After the replacement, all patent document orders will be redirected to the Certified Copy Center as the Order Entry Management System (OEMS) website will be replaced.

The new Certified Copy Center storefront system will provide customers with an improved user experience that provides many capabilities, including:

  • Ability to order published patent and trademark documents, including patent applications as filed and patent file wrappers
  • Ability to submit a request to order unpublished patent documents
  • Information for how to download free uncertified copies of patent and trademark documents
  • Enhanced order history and order tracking capabilities, including the ability to import your OEMS order history into the Certified Copy Center

 

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the new Certified Copy Center, please email the Patent and Trademark Copy Fulfillment Branch customer service at dsd@uspto.gov or call 1-800-972-6382 (toll free) or 571-272-3150 (local). Our operating hours are Monday–Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, except federal government holidays. 

Credit/Debit Card Maintenance

The third-party card processing provider for the USPTO payment system, Pay.gov, is performing maintenance beginning at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 27 and ending at 10 p.m., Saturday, April 27 ET.

All USPTO storefronts are expected to remain available. However, credit/debit card payment processing through all USPTO storefronts will be unavailable during the maintenance period. Please submit payment using an alternative payment method.

For PTAB Customers:

If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending America Invents Act (AIA) case and you cannot file electronically via the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End-to-End (PTAB-E2E) System, you may use an alternative filing method. Please visit the PTAB-E2E FAQ page (https://www.uspto.gov/patents-application-process/patent-trial-and-appeal-board/ptab-e2e-frequently-asked-questions) and see A2 for information concerning your America Invents Act (AIA) petition filing and/or document filing using PTAB-E2E alternative filing methods. For Trademark Customers:

If your deadline is today and the document requiring a fee payment cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing. For TTAB Customers:

If your deadline is today and the document cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing. Please visit the TTAB Outage Page for information concerning Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) alternative filing methods. MyUSPTO Maintenance impacting Private PAIR, EFS-Web and Financial Manager

The USPTO is performing monthly MyUSPTO maintenance beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, April 27 and ending at 4 a.m., Saturday, April 27 ET. 

The my.uspto.gov website will be unavailable during the maintenance period.  You will not be able to register for a new uspto.gov account during the maintenance. Private PAIR, EFS-Web (USPTO.gov and PKI sign-in), and the Migration and Sponsorship tools will be unavailable. 

During the maintenance period, patent applicants can file new applications via EFS-Web Contingency or use an alternative filing method.  

The maintenance will also impact the ability for Financial Manager users to add new users or make changes to user permissions.


ETAS Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Electronic Trademark Assignment System (ETAS) beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, April 27 and ending at 5 a.m., Saturday, April 27 ET.

ETAS will be unavailable during the maintenance period.

Maintenance Impacting Manuals (MPEP, TMEP, TFSR, and TBMP)

The USPTO will perform maintenance impacting several manuals beginning at 12:01 a.m., Sunday, April 28 and ending at 3 a.m., Sunday, April 28 ET.

During the maintenance period the following manuals will be unavailable:

  • Manual of Patent Examining Procedure (MPEP)
  • Trademark Manual of Examining Procedure (TMEP)
  • Trademark Federal Statutes and Rules (TFSR)
  • Trademark Trial and Appeal Board Manual of Procedure (TBMP)
