Planned Events

Trilateral Dossier Access (TDA) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the TDA systems from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 16 ET.

During the maintenance period, TDA will be unavailable.

Multiple System Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting multiple systems from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, September 16 ET.

The following systems will be unavailable during the maintenance period:

    • EFS-Web for Registered eFilers, Unregistered eFilers, and EFS-Web Contingency

    • Private PAIR

Patent Center will be available as an alternative to electronically file and retrieve patent applications. Please refer to our Filing Documents during an Outage page for other alternative filing method.

Fee Processing Next Generation (FPNG) Credit Card Payment Maintenance

Due to third-party system maintenance activities, credit/debit card payments will not be accepted from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 16 ET.  

During the maintenance period, the following USPTO storefronts will be unable to accept credit/debit card payments:

  • Electronic Filing System-Web (EFS-Web)
  • Electronic Filing System-Web Contingency (EFS-Web Contingency)
  • Patent Center
  • Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (P-TACTS)
  • Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront (FPNG)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASI)
  • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)
  • Electronic Trademark Assignment Search (ETAS)
  • Office of Enrollment and Discipline Customer Interface (OEDCI)
  • Certified Copy Center (CCC)

Customers with an already established USPTO Deposit Account or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Account may still pay using one of these payment methods during the maintenance window.

If you are unable to wait until the maintenance activity has concluded to pay a fee, the following alternative options are available:

Support for the online fee payment management system, and USPTO.gov accounts, is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET (except federal holidays).

PTAB Customers: If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending America Invents Act (AIA) case and you cannot file electronically via the Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System, (P-TACTS) you may use an alternative filing method. Please visit the PTAB-E2E FAQ page: https://www.uspto.gov/patents/ptab/ptab-e2e-frequently-asked-questions and see A2 for information concerning your America Invents Act (AIA) petition filing and/or document filing using P-TACTS alternative filing methods. Multiple Systems Maintenance 

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting multiple systems from 12:01 a.m. until 2 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19 ET. 

During the maintenance period, user access to the following applications may be interrupted:

  • EFS Web (Electronic Filing System-Web)
  • Fee Payment Processing (FPNG)
  • Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront

  • Certified Copy Center (CCC)

  • Patent Center (eMOD)
  • Private PAIR (Patent Application Information Retrieval)
  • Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (PTACTS)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)

Patent Customers: During the maintenance period, applicants may file new applications, except for National Stage applications under 35 U.S.C. 371, via EFS-Web Unregistered. If you need to file a National Stage application under 35 U.S.C. 371 or follow-on submission to an existing application during the maintenance period, please use the alternative filing method

PTAB/P-TACTS Customers: If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending America Invents Act (AIA) case and you cannot file electronically via Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (P-TACTS), you may use an alternate filing method. Please visit the P-TACTS FAQ page: https://www.uspto.gov/sites/default/files/documents/p-tacts_faqs_20221007.pdf and see A2 for information concerning your America Invents Act (AIA) petition filing and/or document filing using P-TACTS alternative filing methods.
