Planned Events

Assignments on the Web (AOTW) and Assignments Historical Database (AHD) Migration

The USPTO will perform a migration on Assignments on the Web AOTW and AHD from the Production Data Center in Alexandria to a new Data Center in Manassas, from 12:01 a.m. until 5 a.m. on Saturday, July 22 ET.

During this migration, Patent Examination Data System (PEDS) will be impacted due to the shared storage mounts.   

Note: Some functionalities of PEDS will be unavailable during the migration window.


Maintenance Impacting Manuals

The USPTO will perform maintenance impacting several manuals from 12:01 a.m. until 11:59 p.m., on Saturday, July 22 ET. 

During the maintenance period, the following manuals will be briefly unavailable between 12 a.m. and 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 22 ET.

  • Manual of Patent Examining Procedure (eMPEP)
  • Trademark Manual of Examining Procedure (TMEP)
  • Trademark Federal Statutes and Rules (TFSR)
  • Trademark Trial and Appeal Board Manual of Procedure (TBMP)


Multiple System Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting multiple systems from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 22 ET.

The following systems will be unavailable during the maintenance period:

    • EFS-Web for Registered eFilers, Unregistered eFilers, and EFS-Web Contingency

    • Private PAIR

Patent Center will be available as an alternative to electronically file and retrieve patent applications. Please refer to our Filing Documents during an Outage page for other alternative filing method.


Trademark Status and Document Retrieval (TSDR) application Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the TSDR application for two nights: 

    • The first night of maintenance will be from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 22 ET.

    • The final night of maintenance will be from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 23 ET.

During the maintenance period, TSDR will be available, but might experience some slow response time.


Trademark System Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Trademark (TM) systems from 12:01 a.m. until 6:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 22 ET.

During the maintenance period, the following systems will remain available, but mark images and documents will be unavailable:

   • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)

   • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)

   • Trademark Status and Document Retrieval (TSDR) will be available but with limited capability

To minimize the risk of disruption, we recommend closing any active sessions and stopping your work between 12:01 a.m. and 6:15 a.m. ET.

Please complete all Petition to the Director E-signature requests and Petition to the Director saved forms by 11:59 p.m. ET on July 21. If you don’t complete these by that time, you will have to start the process again with new forms. We apologize for the inconvenience.


Trademark ID Manual (TM-IDM) Migration  

The USPTO will perform a migration on TM-IDM to Rocky Linux beginning at 10 p.m., Saturday, July 22 and ending at 2 a.m., Sunday, July 23 ET.


    Trademarks Database Servers Maintenance 

    The USPTO will perform server maintenance from 12:01 a.m. until 6 a.m. on Sunday, July 23 ET.

    During the maintenance period, below component services will not be available.

        • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)

        • Electronic Trademark Assignment System (ETAS)

        • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)

        • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)

        • Trademark Trial and Appeal Board Inquiry System (TTABVUE)

        • Trademark Status and Document Retrieval (TSDR)

        • Trademark Electronic Official Gazette (TM-eOG)


    Trademark Electronic Search System (TM-TESS) Maintenance

    The USPTO will perform maintenance on the TM-TESS application from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m., Sunday, July 23 ET.

    During the maintenance period, TM-TESS will be unavailable.


    Multiple System Maintenance

    The USPTO will perform server maintenance from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m., Sunday, July 23 ET.

    During the maintenance period, below component services will not be available.

        • ESTTA - Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals 

        • TTABVUE- Trademark Trial and Appeal Board VUE

        • TTAB Reading-Room - Trademark Trial and Appeals Board - Reading Room 

        • OEDIS- Office of Enrollment and Discipline Information System

    Users should save all work and log off before the maintenance period begins.


    Patent Electronic Filing System – Web (EFS-Web) Maintenance

    The USPTO will perform maintenance on EFS-Web from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday, July 23 ET.

    During this maintenance period, Fee Worksheets and Acknowledgement Receipts for submissions will not be generated.

    Applicants may file submissions in EFS-Web during this time but wait until Monday for those documents to be generated. Applicants may still file submissions via Patent Center.


    Production Data Center Migration

    The USPTO will perform a DMZ migration on EFS-Web from the Production Data Center in Alexandria to a new Data Center in Manassas from 12:01 a.m. until 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 29 ET.

    The EIDO support team will perform a backup of the data prior to the product component's migration date, and USPTO data will be migrated AS-IS. There will be no application and configuration changes needed. 

    Note: The following systems will be unavailable during the migration window:

    • EFS-Web for Registered eFilers, Unregistered eFilers, and EFS-Web Contingency
    • Patent Center

    Patent Center will be available as an alternative to electronically file patent applications. Please note that submissions submitted via Patent Center during the maintenance period will experience longer than expected delays in becoming available in the Patent Center Workbench and Private PAIR IFW tab.
