Planned Events

Publication Site for Issued and Published Sequences (PSIPS) Migration

The USPTO will perform a migration on PSIPS from the Production Data Center in Alexandria to a new Data Center in Manassas, from 12:01 a.m. until 5 a.m. on Thursday, May 18 ET.   

Users should save their work and exit PSIPS before the migration period begins.

Patents-Electronic Library for Patents (P-ELP) and Services - Document Wrapper for Patents (S-DWP) Migration

The USPTO will perform a data sync/migration on P-ELP and S-DWP from the Production Data Center in Alexandria to a new Data Center in Manassas beginning at 10 p.m., Thursday, May 18 and ending at 5 a.m., Friday, May 19 ET.

The following systems will be impacted during the maintenance: 

    • Trilateral Dossier Access (TDA)

    • Global Dossier

    • Patent Center

    • Private PAIR

    • One Portal Dossier (OPD)

For Patent Center and Private PAIR, previously submitted documents will not be available at the Patent Center and Private PAIR's IFW tab during the maintenance period. 

New documents submitted via Patent Center and Electronic Filing System-Web (EFS-Web) during the maintenance period will experience longer than expected delays in becoming available in the Patent Center and Private PAIR's IFW tab. 

Customers should check on Monday, May 22 to see if the impacted submissions are available at Patent Center and Private PAIR.

Trademark System Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Trademark (TM) systems from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Friday, May 19 ET.

During the maintenance period, the following systems will remain available, but mark images and documents will be unavailable: 

    • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)

    • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)

    • Trademark Status and Document Retrieval (TSDR) will be available but with limited capability

Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (Private-PAIR) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on Private-PAIR from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 20 ET.

During the maintenance period, Private PAIR will be unavailable. Please use Patent Center as an alternative to electronically retrieve patent applications.

Fee Processing Next Generation (FPNG) Credit Card Payment Maintenance

Due to third-party system maintenance activities, credit/debit card payments will not be accepted from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 ET.  

During the maintenance period, the following USPTO storefronts will be unable to accept credit/debit card payments:

  • Electronic Filing System-Web (EFS-Web)
  • Electronic Filing System-Web Contingency (EFS-Web Contingency)
  • Patent Center
  • Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (P-TACTS)
  • Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront (FPNG)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASI)
  • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)
  • Electronic Trademark Assignment Search (ETAS)
  • Office of Enrollment and Discipline Customer Interface (OEDCI)
  • Certified Copy Center (CCC)

Customers with an already established USPTO Deposit Account or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Account may still pay using one of these payment methods during the maintenance window.

If you are unable to wait until the maintenance activity has concluded to pay a fee, the following alternative options are available:

Enterprise Office Software Service (EOSS) Migration

The USPTO will perform a migration on EOSS from the Production Data Center in Alexandria to a new Data Center in Manassas, from 12:01 a.m. until 5 a.m. on Sunday, May 21 ET.  

Note: During the migration period, UCCMS email functionality will be unavailable.

System Maintenance

The USPTO will implement new account management technology from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 25 ET.  

During this time, the following systems may be unavailable:

    • API Key Manager

    • EFS Web (Electronic Filing System-Web)

    • Fee Payment Processing (FPNG)

    • MyUSPTO

    • Certified Copy Center (CCC)

    • Office of Enrollment and Discipline - Customer Interface (OEDIS - CI)

Patent Customers: During the maintenance period, applicants may file new applications, except for National Stage applications under 35 U.S.C. 371, via EFS-Web Unregistered. If you need to file a National Stage application under 35 U.S.C. 371 or follow-on submission to an existing application during the maintenance period, please use the alternative filing method

PTAB/P-TACTS Customers: If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending America Invents Act (AIA) case and you cannot file electronically via Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (P-TACTS), you may use an alternate filing method. The maintenance will also cause interruptions to payment processing for users of the Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA), the Electronic Trademark Assignment Search (ETAS), the Order Entry Management System (OEMS), and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End to End (PTAB-E2E).
