Planned Events

Services- Document Wrapper for Patents (S-DWP) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on S-DWP beginning at 10 p.m., Friday, November 18 and ending at 5 a.m., Saturday, November 19 ET.

S-DWP will be available during the maintenance period; however, some operations may be briefly interrupted or delayed.

Patent Center, Private PAIR, Global Dossier (GD) and One Portal Dossier (OPD) users should retry if an operation is interrupted or does not appear to have been completed.

Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (Private-PAIR) Migration

The USPTO will perform a migration on Private-PAIR from the Production Data Center in Alexandria to a new Data Center in Manassas, from 12:01 a.m. until 5 a.m., on Saturday, November 19 ET.  

During the maintenance period, Private-PAIR will be unavailable.

Please use Patent Center as an alternative to electronically retrieve patent applications.

Fee Processing Next Generation (FPNG) System Maintenance

Due to USPTO maintenance activities, fee payments will not be accepted between Midnight-1am on Saturday, November 19 ET. 

During the maintenance period, the following USPTO storefronts will be unable to accept fee payments:

    • Electronic Filing System-Web (EFS-Web)
    • Electronic Filing System-Web Contingency (EFS-Web Contingency)
    • Patent Center
    • Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (PTACTS)
    • Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront (FPNG)

    • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASI)
    • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)

If you are unable to wait until the maintenance activity has concluded to pay a fee, the following alternative options are available:

Support for the online fee payment management system, and USPTO.gov accounts, is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET (except federal holidays).

Patent Trial and Appeal Customers: If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending America Invents Act (AIA) case and you cannot file electronically via the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End-to-End (PTAB-E2E) System, you may use an alternative& filing method. Please visit the PTAB-E2E FAQ page :https://www.uspto.gov/patents/ptab/ptab-e2e-frequently-asked-questions and see A2 for information concerning your America Invents Act (AIA) petition filing and/or document filing using PTAB-E2E alternative filing methods. Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS) Migration

The USPTO will perform a migration on TESS from the Production Data Center in Alexandria to a new Data Center in Manassas, from 12:01 a.m. until 5 a.m., on Sunday, November 20 ET.

During the migration period, TESS will be unavailable.  

Patent Electronic Filing System-Web (EFS-Web) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on EFS-Web from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday, November 20 ET.

During this maintenance period, Fee Worksheets and Acknowledgement Receipts for submissions will not be generated.

Applicants may file submissions in EFS-Web during this time, but wait until Monday for those documents to be generated. Applicants may still file submissions via Patent Center.

Multiple System Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting multiple systems 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 22 ET.

The following systems will be unavailable during the maintenance period:

    •    EFS-Web for Registered eFilers, Unregistered eFilers, and EFS-Web Contingency
    •    Private PAIR

Patent Center will be available as an alternative to electronically file and retrieve patent applications. Please refer to our Filing Documents during an Outage page for other alternative filing method.
