Planned Events

Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting multiple systems on the following days.

The first day of maintenance will begin at 12:01 a.m., Thursday, October 27 and end at 3 a.m., Thursday, October 27 ET.

The second day of maintenance will begin at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, October 29 and end at 3 a.m., Saturday, October 29 ET.

During the maintenance, there is a possibility of intermittent interruption for the following systems:

Patents Customers:

During the maintenance period, if you need to file a new patent application, you can use EFS-Web for Unregistered eFilers or EFS-Web Contingency. If you need to file a follow-on submission or pay fees, use an alternative filing or payment method.

PTAB Customers:

If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending AIA case and you cannot file electronically via the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End-to-End System (PTAB-E2E), you may use an alternative filing method. Please visit the PTAB-E2E FAQ Page and see A2 for information concerning your AIA petition filing and/or document filing using PTAB-E2E alternative filing methods. If you have any questions, contact PTAB during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET by telephone at 571-272-7822 or email at Trials@uspto.gov.

Trademark Customers:

If your deadline is today and the document requiring a fee payment cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternate method of filling. Please visit the Trademark Outage Page for information concerning Trademark alternative filing methods. If you have any questions, contact the TEAS Team by email TEAS@uspto.gov.

TTAB Customers:

If your deadline is today and the document cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing method. Please visit the TTAB Outage Page for information concerning Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) alternative filing methods. If you have any questions, contact the TTAB Assistance Center during normal business hours between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, except federal holidays by telephone at 571-272-8500 or email TTABInfo@uspto.gov.

Production Data Center Migration

The USPTO will perform a migration on product components from the Production Data Center in Alexandria to a new Data Center in Manassas beginning at 12:01 a.m., Friday, October 28 and ending at 5 a.m., Saturday, October 29 ET.

During the migration window, product components will be unavailable. 

The OIEO support team will perform a backup of the data prior to the product component's migration date, and USPTO data will be migrated AS-IS. 

There will be no application and configuration changes needed.  

The migration start times for various product components are listed below. Each migration is estimated to be 4-5 hours.

Friday, October 28

Docket Application Viewer Part 1 (DAV) – 12:05 a.m. ET (Patent Product Line)

NOTE: During the deployment, OCR functionality, Relevant Prior Art (RPA) functionality, and eDRS messaging functionality will be unavailable.

Docket Application Viewer Part 2 (DAV) – 10 p.m. ET (Patent Product Line)

Note: DAV will be unavailable during the migration window.

Official Correspondence (OC) – 10 p.m. ET (Patent Product Line)

Note: OC will be unavailable during the migration window.

Users should save their work and exit these product components before the migration period begins.

Trademark Status and Document Retrieval (TSDR) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on TSDR application on two consecutive nights:

    • The first night of maintenance will begin at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, October 29 and end at 5:30 a.m., Saturday, October 29 ET.
    • The final night of maintenance will begin at 12:01 a.m., Sunday, October 30 and end at 5:30 a.m., Sunday, October 30 ET.

During the maintenance period, TSDR will be available, but might experience some slow response time.

Reference Document Management Services (RDMS) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the RDMS systems beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, October 29 and ending at 5:30 a.m., Saturday, October 29 ET.

During the maintenance period, RDMS will be unavailable.

Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform server maintenance on multiple systems beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, October 29 and ending at 5:30 a.m., Saturday, October 29 ET.

During the maintenance period, below component services will be unavailable.

       • ESTTA - Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals 
   
    • TTABVUE- Trademark Trial and Appeal Board VUE
    
   • TTAB Reading-Room - Trademark Trial and Appeals Board - Reading Room

Trademarks Database Servers Maintenance

The USPTO will perform server maintenance beginning at 12:01 a.m., Sunday, October 30 and ending at 8 a.m., Sunday, October 30 ET.

During the maintenance period, the below component services will not be available:

    • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)
    • Electronic Trademark Assignment System (ETAS)
    • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
    • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)
    • Trademark Trial and Appeal Board Inquiry System (TTABVUE)
    • Trademark Status and Document Retrieval (TSDR)

Trademark Electronic Search System (TM-TESS) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the TM-TESS application beginning at 12:01 a.m., Sunday, October 30 and ending at 5:30 a.m., Sunday, October 30 ET.

During the maintenance period, TM-TESS will be unavailable.

Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform system maintenance beginning at 12:01 a.m., Sunday, October 30 and end at 5:30 a.m., Sunday, October 30 ET.

During the maintenance period, First Actions System for Trademarks (1.0) (2.0) and X-Search will not be available.

Patent Public Search Maintenance

USPTO will perform maintenance on the Patent Public Search beginning at 10 p.m., Friday, October 28 and ending at 11 p.m., Friday, October 28 ET.

During the maintenance period, the Patent Public Search will be unavailable.

Patent Electronic Filing System-Web (EFS-Web) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on EFS-Web beginning at 8 p.m., Sunday, October 30 and ending at 10 p.m., Sunday, October 30 ET.

During this maintenance period, Fee Worksheets and Acknowledgement Receipts for submissions will not be generated.

Applicants may file submissions in EFS-Web during this time, but wait until Monday for those documents to be generated. Applicants may still file submissions via Patent Center.

Production Data Center Migration

    Note: This is for TEAS/TEASi primary databases (dsb-tm-db-1, tm-databridge-db-1). 

    The following system will be unavailable during the migration window:
