Planned Events

Bulk Data Storage System (BDSS) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the BDSS beginning at 10 a.m., Friday, October 14 and ending at 3 p.m., Friday, October 14 ET. 

During the maintenance period, the entire BDSS system will be unavailable.

Patent Public Search Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Patent Public Search beginning at 10 p.m., Friday, October 14 and ending at 11 p.m., Friday, October 14 ET.

During the maintenance period, the Patent Public Search will be unavailable.

Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting several systems beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, October 15 and ending at 8 a.m., Saturday, October 15 ET.

The following systems and systems that interface with these systems will be unavailable during the maintenance period:

    • Electronic Filing System Web (EFS-Web & EFS-Web Contingency)
    • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)
    • Office of Enrollment and Discipline Roster of Patent Attorneys/Agents (OEDCI)
    • Patent Center and Sponsorship tool
    • Patent Trial and Appeal Tracking System (P-TACTS)
    • Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (Private PAIR)
    • Public Patent Application Information Retrieval (Public PAIR)
    • Publication Site for Issued and Published Sequences (PSIPS)
    • Financial Manager and Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront
    • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
    • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)
    • Trademark Official Gazette (TMOG)
    • Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS)
    • Trademark Trial and Appeal Board VUE (TTABVUE)

The maintenance will also cause interruptions to payment processing for users of the Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA), the Electronic Trademark Assignment Search (ETAS), the Order Entry Management System (OEMS), and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End to End (PTAB-E2E).

P-TACTS Customers

If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending AIA case and you cannot file electronically via the Patent Trial and Appeal Tracking System (P-TACTS), you may use an alternative filing method. If your deadline is today and the document requiring a fee payment cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing. If your deadline is today and the document cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing. Please visit the TTAB Outage Page for information concerning Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) alternative filing methods. Patent Office Action to XML (P-OA2XML) Maintenance 

The USPTO will perform a migration on P-OA2XML from the Production Data Center in Alexandria to a new Data Center in Manassas, beginning at 10 p.m., Saturday, October 15 and ending at 3 a.m., Sunday, October 16 ET. 

This migration will temporarily delay the availability of new Office Action DOCX and XML data downloads in Private PAIR and Patent Center [and other consuming systems (i.e. BDR)].

Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on Global Dossier (GD), One Portal Dossier (OPD), Patent Examination Data System (PEDS), Publication Site for Issued and Published Sequences (PSIPS), and PALM Reporting System (PALM-PRS) beginning at 12 a.m., Sunday, October 16 and ending at 5 a.m., Sunday, October 16 ET.

During the maintenance period, GD, OPD, PEDS, PSIPS, and PALM-PRS will be unavailable.

Patent Electronic Filing System-Web (EFS-Web) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on EFS-Web beginning at 8 p.m., Sunday, October 16 and ending at 10 p.m., Sunday, October 16 ET.

During this maintenance period, Fee Worksheets and Acknowledgement Receipts for submissions will not be generated.

Applicants may file submissions in EFS-Web during this time, but wait until Monday for those documents to be generated. Applicants may still file submissions via Patent Center.
