MyUSPTO System Update

As part of the current MyUSPTO deployment to address user experience issues reported by customers, a database schema change is needed. 

Given the high volume of users at any point of time in the system, the USPTO will need to take the system down to make the schema change and avoid any potential problems.

Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting multiple systems beginning at 12:01 a.m., Friday, September 30 and ending at 3 a.m., Friday, September 30 ET.

During the maintenance, there is a possibility of intermittent interruption:

    • API Key Manager
    • EFS Web (Electronic Filing System-Web)

Patent Customers:

During the maintenance period, if you need to file a new patent application, you can use EFS-Web for Unregistered eFilers or EFS-Web Contingency. If you need to file a follow-on submission or pay fees, use an alternative filing or payment method.

PTAB Customers:

If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending AIA case and you cannot file electronically via the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End-to-End System (PTAB-E2E), you may use an alternative filing method. Please visit the PTAB-E2E FAQ Page and see A2 for information concerning your AIA petition filing and/or document filing using PTAB-E2E alternative filing methods. If you have any questions, contact PTAB during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET by telephone at 571-272-7822 or email at Trials@uspto.gov.

Trademark Customers:

If your deadline is today and the document requiring a fee payment cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternate method of filling. Please visit the Trademark Outage Page for information concerning Trademark alternative filing methods. If you have any questions, contact the TEAS Team by email TEAS@uspto.gov.

TTAB Customers:

If your deadline is today and the document cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing method. Please visit the TTAB Outage Page for information concerning Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) alternative filing methods. If you have any questions, contact the TTAB Assistance Center during normal business hours between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, except federal holidays by telephone at 571-272-8500 or email TTABInfo@uspto.gov.

Multiple Applications Retirement

After September 30, the following systems will no longer be available:

    •    Patent Full Text on the Web (PATFT)
    •    Application Full Text (APPFT)
    •    Public Examiner's Automated Search Tool (Public EAST)
    •    Public Web-Based Examiner's Search Tool (Public WEST)

Please use Patent Public Search (https://ppubs.uspto.gov/pubwebapp/) to conduct searches of U.S. patents and published applications. Visit the Patent Public Search (https://ppubs.uspto.gov/pubwebapp/static/pages/landing.html) website for additional resources. For questions regarding Patent Public Search, please contact the Public Search Facility at psf@uspto.gov.

Patent Public Search Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Patent Public Search beginning at 10 p.m., Friday, September 30 and ending at 11 p.m., Friday, September 30 ET.

During the maintenance period, the Patent Public Search will be unavailable.

Patent Electronic Filing System-Web (EFS-Web) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on EFS-Web beginning at 8 p.m., Sunday, October 2 and ending at 10 p.m., Sunday, October 2 ET.

During this maintenance period, Fee Worksheets and Acknowledgement Receipts for submissions will not be generated.

Applicants may file submissions in EFS-Web during this time, but wait until Monday for those documents to be generated. Applicants may still file submissions via Patent Center.
