Planned Events

TSDR Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Trademark Status and Document Retrieval (TSDR) application on two nights:

  • The first night of maintenance will begin at 12:01 a.m., Wednesday, Aug 18 and end at 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug 18 ET.
  • The final night of maintenance will begin at 12:01 a.m., Friday, Aug 20 and end at 5:30 a.m., Friday, Aug 20 ET.

During the maintenance period, TSDR will be available, but might experience some slow response time.​

Trademark System Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Trademark TMNG systems from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Thursday, August 19 ET.

The following systems will be impacted:

  • Trademark Official Gazette (TMOG) will not be available. You can access recent PDF versions of the gazette on the Trademark Official Gazette webpage. For archived PDF versions of gazettes dating back to 2001, visit the archived editions page.
  • Trademarks Next Generation ID Manual (TMNG-IDM) will not be available.
  • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) initial application forms will not be available.
  • TTAB Reading Room will not be available.
  • Trademark Status and Document Retrieval (TSDR) will be available, but all documents may not be viewable.

The following systems will remain available, but links to and images derived from TSDR will be unavailable, including mark images.

  • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)

Vendor Portal Maintenance

The USPTO will perform system maintenance affecting the Vendor Portal beginning at 12 a.m. and ending at 5 a.m. on Friday, August 20 ET.

During the maintenance period, Vendor Portal users will not be able to submit and process invoices and eDeliverables.

Bulk Data Storage System (BDSS) Maintenance

The OCIO will perform maintenance on the Bulk Data Storage System (BDSS) beginning at 10 a.m., Friday, August 20 and ending at 3 p.m., Friday, August 20 ET. 

During the maintenance period, the entire BDSS system will be unavailable.

Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting several systems beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, August 21 and ending at 8 a.m., Saturday, August 21 ET.

The following systems and systems that interface with them will be unavailable during the maintenance period:


     •    Electronic Filing System Web (EFS-Web & EFS-Web Contingency)
     •    Office of Enrollment and Discipline Roster of Patent Attorneys/Agents (OEDCI)
     •    Patent Center and Sponsorship tool
     •    Patent Trial and Appeal Board End-to-End System (PTAB-E2E)
     •    Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (Private PAIR)
     •    Public Patent Application Information Retrieval (Public PAIR)
     •    Publication Site for Issued and Published Sequences (PSIPS)
     •    Financial Manager and Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront
     •    Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
     •    Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)
     •    Trademark Official Gazette (TMOG)
     •    Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS)
     •    Trademark Trial and Appeal Board Information System (TTABIS)
     •    Trademark Trial and Appeal Board VUE (TTABVUE)

The maintenance will also cause interruptions to payment processing for users of the Electronic Trademark Assignment Search (ETAS), the Order Entry Management System (OEMS), the Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA), and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End to End (PTAB-E2E).

During the maintenance period, viewing documents in TTABVUE will be unavailable.

For PTAB Customers:

If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending AIA case and you cannot file electronically via the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End-to-End System (PTAB-E2E), you may use an alternative filing method. Please visit the PTAB-E2E FAQ page (https://www.uspto.gov/patents-application-process/patent-trial-and-appeal-board/ptab-e2e-frequently-asked-questions) and see A2 for information concerning your AIA petition filing and/or document filing using PTAB-E2E alternative filing methods. For Trademark Customers:

If your deadline is today and the document requiring a fee payment cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing. For TTAB Customers:

If your deadline is today and the document cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing. FPNG/Fee Payment Processing Maintenance

Due to system maintenance on USPTO financial systems, we will be unable to accept fee payments between midnight and 6 a.m. on Friday, August 20 ET.

The following storefronts will be impacted by the maintenance:

In addition, several online financial services will be unavailable, including Patent Maintenance fee bulk uploads and retrieval of Maintenance Fee statements, access to Financial Manager reports and transaction searches, and fee history lookups through Private PAIR.

If you are unable to wait until the maintenance has concluded to pay a fee, the following alternative options are available:
