Open Data Portal Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Open Data Portal beginning at 12:01 a.m., Friday, April 2 and ending at 2 a.m., Friday, April 2 ET.

During the maintenance period, users might experience a momentary outage to the Open Data portal.

Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting several systems beginning at 12:01 a.m., Friday, April 2 and ending at 8 a.m., Friday, April 2 ET.

During the maintenance period, the following systems and systems that interface with these systems will be unavailable:

  • Electronic Freedom of Information Act (eFOIA)
  • Electronic Filing System Web (EFS-Web & EFS-Web Contingency)
  • Office of Enrollment and Discipline Roster of Patent Attorneys/Agents (OEDCI)
  • Patent Center and Sponsorship tool
  • Patent Trial and Appeal Board End-to-End System (PTAB-E2E)
  • Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (Private PAIR)
  • Public Patent Application Information Retrieval (Public PAIR)
  • Publication Site for Issued and Published Sequences (PSIPS)
  • Financial Manager and Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront
  • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)
  • Trademark Official Gazette (TMOG)
  • Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS)


The maintenance will also cause interruptions to payment processing for users of the Electronic Trademark Assignment Search (ETAS), the Order Entry Management System (OEMS), the Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA), and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End to End (PTAB-E2E).

For PTAB Customers: 

If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending AIA case and you cannot file electronically via the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End-to-End System (PTAB-E2E), you may use an alternative filing method. Please visit the PTAB-E2E FAQ page (https://www.uspto.gov/patents/ptab/ptab-e2e-frequently-asked-questions) and see A2 for information concerning your AIA petition filing and/or document filing using PTAB-E2E alternative filing methods. For Trademark Customers: 

If your deadline is today and the document requiring a fee payment cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing. If your deadline is today and the document cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing. Please visit the TTAB Outage Page for information concerning Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) alternative filing methods. Trademark System Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Trademark Next Generation (TMNG) systems beginning at 12 a.m., Friday, April 2 and ending at 6 a.m., Friday, April 2 ET.

The following systems will be impacted:

    Trademark Official Gazette (TMOG) will not be available. You can access recent PDF versions of the gazette on the Trademark Official Gazette webpage. For archived PDF versions of gazettes dating back to 2001, visit the archived editions page.  
   • Trademarks Next Generation ID Manual (TMNG-IDM) will not be available.
   • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) initial application forms will not be available.
   • TTAB Reading Room will not be available.
   • Trademark Status and Document Retrieval (TSDR) will be available, but all documents may not be viewable.

The following systems will remain available, but links to and images derived from TSDR will be unavailable, including mark images.

  • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)

Bulk Data Storage System (BDSS) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Bulk Data Storage System (BDSS) beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, April 3 and ending at 8 a.m., Saturday, April 3 ET.

During the maintenance period, the entire BDSS system will be unavailable.

Patent Examination Data Search (PEDS) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Patent Examination Data Search (PEDS) system beginning at 11 a.m., Friday, April 2 and ending at 1 p.m., Friday, April 2 ET.

During the maintenance period, customers may experience a temporary disruption of service.

Multiple System Maintenance

The OCIO will deploy the Electronic System for Trademarks Trial and Appeals (ESTTA) and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board Viewing on the Web (TTABVUE) beginning at 12 a.m., Saturday, April 3 and ending at 4 a.m., Saturday, April 3 ET.

Multiple System Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on multiple systems beginning at 12:01 a.m., Sunday, April 4 and ending at 5:30 a.m., Sunday, April 4 ET.

The following systems will be unavailable during the maintenance period:

     • Images for Application Full Text (AppFT) and Patent Full Text on the Web (PatFT)
 
    • e-Patent Reference (EPR)
 
    • Publication Site for Issued and Published Sequences (PSIPS)

MyUSPTO Maintenance

The USPTO will perform MyUSPTO maintenance beginning at 12:01 a.m., Sunday, April 4 and ending at 5:30 a.m., Sunday, April 4 ET.

During the maintenance period, the my.uspto.gov website will be unavailable and users will  be unable to register for a new ​uspto.gov account. The maintenance will also impact the ability for Financial Manager users to add new users or make changes to user permissions for stored payment methods.

Users will be unable to sign in to Patent Center, the Patent Center Sponsorship tool, Private PAIR, EFS-Web for Registered eFilers, TEAS, and OEDIS CI. 

During the maintenance period, patent applicants can file new applications via Patent Center as a guest filer, EFS-Web for Unregistered eFilers, EFS-Web Contingency or use an alternative filing method.  If you have questions, please contact the Patent Electronic Business Center at 866-217-9197 or EBC@uspto.gov.

For trademark (TEAS) customers, please wait to use TEAS until after the maintenance window. Filing deadlines that fall on a Saturday extend to the next business day. ​If you have any questions, contact the TEAS team by email TEAS@uspto.gov. ​
