Current Status

NOTICE
Due to unplanned maintenance, our external IT systems are currently offline today, December 15. We expect our systems to be offline for the remainder of the day, and that the systems will be up and running tomorrow.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and will provide more information as soon as it is available.

Correspondence may be filed as outlined below.
Patent Customers: Filers will find more information about filing options during the outage at https://www.uspto.gov/patents/apply/filing-online/filing-documents-during-outage. For patent filers unable to avail themselves of the filing options identified at the webpage, for this outage period only, patent correspondence, including new patent applications, new international design applications, and documents or fee payments charging a deposit account, can be submitted via email at PatentApp15DEC21@uspto.gov. Note, anyone submitting via email a statutorily mandated fee payment due today should pay by USPTO Deposit Account. Alternatively, payment may be made by mail with a certificate of mailing.

Trademark Customer: Filers will find more information about filing options during this outage at https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/apply/filing-documents-during-outage. For trademark filers unable to avail themselves of the filing options identified at the webpage, for this outage period only, filings can be submitted via email at TrademarkApp15DEC21@uspto.gov. Note, anyone submitting via email a statutorily mandated fee payment due today should pay by USPTO Deposit Account. Alternatively, payment may be made by mail with a certificate of mailing.

PTAB Customers: Filers will find more information about filing options during this outage at https://www.uspto.gov/patents/apply/filing-online/filing-documents-during-outage#PTAB%20E2E; see also https://www.uspto.gov/patents/ptab/ptab-e2e-frequently-asked-questions (for example, Question A2). If a party has a deadline for filing an AIA trial petition filing and/or other associated documents in a pending AIA case during the outage, they must use an alternative filing method to PTAB End-to-End. Specifically, AIA trial petitions and/or other associated documents may be served on opposing counsel via email. The Board should be notified of the service by email, copying opposing counsel, at Trials@uspto.gov. The email notification to the Board should NOT include attachments. It is important to note that a petition will not be accorded a filing date unless it is accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fees (e.g., a deposit account authorization).
Note, anyone submitting a fee payment required to obtain a filing date or any other fee should pay by USPTO Deposit Account. Alternatively, payment may be made by mail with a certificate of mailing.

TTAB Customers: Filers will find more information about filing options during this outage at https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/ttab/filing-ttab-documents-during-outage. Note, anyone needing to submit a statutorily mandated fee payment due today should pay by USPTO Deposit Account and submit the appropriate paperwork to TTABFeedback@USPTO.gov. Alternatively, payment may be made by mail with a certificate of mailing.

More information concerning any follow-on requirements for customers who utilize the email procedures set forth above will be provided as soon as it is available. Should any email submission exceed 25 MB, the submission should be split into smaller files to permit transmission and reference the other submissions.
