South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference: IP to IPO Panel

USPTO at SXSW 2018

The USPTO and Texas Regional Office will continue their participation in the world-famous South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference in Austin this year and continue to spread the word about intellectual property. This year, Regional Director Hope Shimabuku will join Jitendra Jain from the University of Texas at Austin and Mark Smith of Mark Andrew Smith PLLC to put on a panel entitled IP to IPO: Integrating IP into your Strategy.

Starting a business is both thrilling and overwhelming. Identifying and protecting your intellectual property assets early is often the key to later success. In this session, led by representatives from the United States Patent and Trademark Office in collaboration with the Licensing Executives Society and other IP-related organizations, learn how to integrate an IP strategy into your overall business plan and have the opportunity to ask questions one-on-one with these subject matter experts.

At the conference, the USPTO will also unveil the new design for patents in anticipation of the 10 millionth US patent being issued later this year.
