USPTO at CES
Each year the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) proactively engages independent inventors, small businesses, and entrepreneurs at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) to educate them on resources and incentives available to help them develop, apply, and protect their new discoveries and proven innovations, their brands and identities, and improvements in productivity, in order to help them maintain a competitive edge in the global markets.
As America’s Innovation Agency, we strive to ensure government is embracing an agenda and adopting policies and programs that embolden innovation through intellectual property. In many ways, CES reflects how intellectual property, in all its forms, plays a central role in innovation.
CES has a long and storied history previewing scores of innovations for nearly 50 years. It also exemplifies how technology and innovation transform our everyday lives. Behind those transformations lies a grand bargain struck by the Founding Fathers: providing incentives to innovate through exclusive protection for inventions through intellectual property rights, in exchange for dedicating the knowledge behind those inventions to the benefit of society.
