Update: February 5 new transition date for Assignment Center replacing EPAS and ETAS

As we previously announced, as part of our efforts to improve our digital services and our customer experience, we are retiring the Electronic Patent Assignment System (EPAS) and the Electronic Trademark Assignment System (ETAS).

Starting February 5, our new Assignment Center will fully replace EPAS and ETAS for processing all patent and trademark reassignment requests.

We are postponing the original transition date (previously January 22) to incorporate valuable additional stakeholder feedback into the system and further enhance our informational resources, how-to guides, and training materials. We are also ensuring that our customer service and call center staff are equipped to quickly and efficiently respond to questions to help our stakeholders make a smooth transition to Assignment Center.

We regret any inconvenience this additional postponement may cause. Our first priority is always the success of our customers, and we will use this additional time to ensure you have the resources you need to transition to the new system.

Please note: the location to search for patent and trademark assignments will not change.

For more information or questions, please email AssignmentCenter@uspto.gov or call 800-972-6382 (toll free) or 571-272-3350 (local).

This upgrade is just one way we are continuing to modernize USPTO systems to enhance the customer experience. For information on additional enhancements, visit our website improvements page.
