Barbara Fiacco

Past-President, American Intellectual Property Law Association

Barbara Fiacco is a Partner and co-chair of the Patent and Related Disputes Practice at Foley Hoag LLP.  Fiacco served as President of the American Intellectual Property Association (AIPLA). She is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School. 

Fiacco handles complex intellectual property and business disputes.  She has successfully litigated patent, trade secret, and inventorship disputes for global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, medical device manufacturers and research institutions.  

Fiacco also serves as Chair of AIPLA’s Subject-Matter Eligibility Task Force and has also served as Chair of the Committee on Legislation and the Patent Law Committee.  In addition, Fiacco has authored amicus briefs in the Federal Circuit and the Supreme Court on behalf of AIPLA, the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), and others.

She is recognized as a leading IP lawyer in the Best Lawyers in America, IAM Patent 1000, Managing Intellectual Property’s IP Stars and Top 250 Women. She was also named Boston’s Biotechnology and Life Sciences Practice “Lawyer of the Year” in the 2018 and 2020 edition of Best Lawyers.
