COVID-19 community levels and safety protocols at USPTO office locations

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) utilizes the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 community levels tool to help determine what preventative steps to take based on the latest data where our facilities are located. Levels can be low (green), medium (yellow), or high (orange) and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.

All visitors to USPTO facilities must comply with the self-certification process.
When the community level is high, all persons entering that facility must wear a mask.
