The subclass has a very large number of related technical areas, e.g.:

"Material fields per se" such as polymer materials or compositions and kind of fibrous web.

Fields covering (per se) manufacturing methods/apparatus e.g. B05D, B29C, B32B 37/00-B32B 43/00, D06M 23/00, D06B or D06C.

"Application fields" such as wall, floor or roof coverings, airbags, building materials, artificial turf, wearing apparel, footwear or gloves.

"Overlapping fields" like polymeric treatment of fibrous webs ( D06M 15/00), carpet underlays (A47G 27/0468) or multilayer products in case of extrusion coating (B32B).

If the coated fibrous webs are specially adapted for particular applications having own subclasses or if a very specific fibrous web or polymer are used classification is also made in the pertinent subclasses listed in section "Informative references".

A laminate containing a polymeric coated layer, wherein the core of the invention does not lay in the coated textile, is only classified in B32B and not in D06N.

The "common rule" applies in each of the subgroups.

In case of combination of chemical and mechanical aspects, several classification symbols covering all these aspects are given.

Within each of the subgroups D06N 3/0056 and D06N 3/02 - D06N 3/16, the polymer composition comprising different polymer(s) and additive(s) is classified at least according to each of the essential components.

Coatings with mixtures of polymers covered by two or more of subgroups D06N 3/02 - D06N 3/16 are classified in each appropriate subgroup. However, a blend of polyurethane or PVC with another polymer is only classified in D06N 3/142 or D06N 3/065, respectively.

When the coating composition is too generally defined, too many possibilities are disclosed or the product is used for other application than the ones defined in subgroups D06N 1/00, D06N 3/00, D06N 5/00, D06N 7/0002, D06N 7/0005 or D06N 7/0063, then subclasses corresponding to the compounds used in the examples are allocated. In absence of examples, the pertinent subgroups D06N 7/00 or D06N 7/0092 - D06N 7/0097 are given.

When the coating composition comprises a material not specified in the subgroups D06N 3/02 - D06N 3/16, e.g. starch, chitosan, classification is given in D06N 7/00 and D06N 2203/00.

In this group the use of Indexing Codes is mandatory to classify technical information belonging to the core of the invention as long as said technical information can not be classified in any of the subgroups and optional for the classification of additional information.

Roofing materials or products that are useful as roofing material (specified in the claims or description) comprising a fibrous web coated with at least one layer of a macromolecular material, i.e. thermoplastic, elastomer, bitumen or asphalt.

In D06N 5/006 the fastening means should be part of the structure of the material, such as a strip of a self-adhesive at the edge of the roofing membrane or a meltable strip or layer allowing welding of the roofing membrane to a support or to another membrane.
