Public User's Meeting
Public Records Division (PRD)/Public Search Services Division (PSSD)
Public User’s Meeting
Wednesday, June 16, 2010 2:00 p.m.
Remsen Building Conference Center
The Public User’s Meeting was held at 2:00 p.m. in the 1st floor conference room 1D04/1D14 of the Remsen Building at 400 Dulany Street on the USPTO campus in Alexandria, Virginia. Martha Sneed, Director of PSSD, chaired the meeting. There were 3 member(s) of the public in attendance.
The USPTO will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2010 in observance of the Independence Day holiday and will re-open on regular schedule July 6, 2010.
Public Search Facility Updates
Thank you for participating in the Customer Satisfaction Survey that concluded on June 4, 2010. John Owens, CIO, plans to attend the next Public User’s Meeting to discuss the survey results.
The Public Users Meetings will begin to be held on a quarterly rather than a monthly basis. They will also be held in the Global Intellectual Property Academy, a more convenient location as it is within the footprint of the Public Search Facility. The next meeting will be held sometime in August.
Comments from users:
- Window blinds in facility may be impacting cell phone reception. That is why we change them sometimes. USPTO response: All bent blinds have been repaired. The cell phone interference may be caused by changes in service provider tower locations.
- Continuing to lose work space on UPWS. Response: Another public user provided some helpful “housekeeping” hints to prevent this happening. They included emptying the “trash can” first thing before starting to work, and closing out session at 5:45 p.m. and then reopening. That way if a problem occurs after staff has left at 6:00 p.m., the problem is limited to work done after 6:00 p.m. instead of for the whole day.
Public Records Division Updates
No updates at this time.
The Public User’s Meeting was adjourned at 2:30 p.m. Next meeting is scheduled for a date in August to be announced. It will be held in the Global IP Academy.
