Public User's Meeting

The Public User's Meeting was held at 2:00 p.m. in the 1st floor conference room 1D70/1D80 of the Jefferson Building at 500 Dulany Street on the USPTO campus in Alexandria, Virginia. Martha Sneed, Manager of PISD, chaired the meeting. There were 6 members of the public in attendance.

Announcement(s)

USPTO Community Day is May 22, 2008. Some of the streets around the USPTO Alexandria campus will be closed where the vendors are set up. Customer Information Services Group will have a booth set up for Community Day. Come visit.

PSF Updates

USPTO Security has reprogrammed the Public Search Facility entrance turnstiles to permit public users and USPTO staff to exit the search facility without scanning their building access badges. Now that this change is implemented, public users can move more quickly through the turnstile.

User request: Please request an update from USPTO Security for next meeting.

Action: This was requested.

UPWS technical personnel implemented a fix to address the problem with saving EAST search results.

User request : Please provide free access to commercial online databases. Otherwise, accelerated patent applications are not worth doing.

Action: Request forwarded to Commissioner of Patents.

PRD Updates

South Tower operations had some down time last week due to power outage on May 13 that lasted approximately 3-4 hours and also on May 14 because of network connectivity issues.

Construction on the lobby level is almost complete.

General Announcement

A problem with the 571 numbers via Nortel has been resolved.

The Public Users Meeting was adjourned at 2:30pm. Next meeting is scheduled for June 18, 2008 at 2:00pm in the Jefferson conference room(s) 1D70/1D80.
