ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND TECHNOLOGIES (EST) CONCORDANCE

Technology has an important role in enabling industry worldwide to make the transition towards more environmentally sustainable modes of operation. Patent rights provide incentives for innovations that produce the technologies necessary to manage climate change. Alongside efforts to encourage the diffusion of existing technology, there is considerable momentum towards encouraging innovative development and adaptation of technologies across a variety of fields to address climate change.

As environmentally sound technologies (EST) are currently scattered across numerous technical fields without any means of identifying them as environmentally sound other than by their function or application, the following table has been constructed to serve as an entry point for locating EST subject matter.

Please note, the EST Concordance was created to serve as a broad guide for the classifications of ESTs, and is neither exhaustive nor exclusive of ESTs as a whole.  To perform a complete search of any EST the appropriate classification schedules/schemes should be consulted.
