(183) Continuation of the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH)
Pilot Program Between the United States Patent and
Trademark Office and the Mexican Institute of
Industrial Property
On July 1, 2015, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
simplified the requirements and procedures for Patent Prosecution Highway
(PPH) program participation with the Mexican Institute of Industrial
Property (IMPI). See Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Pilot Program between
the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Mexican Institute of
Industrial Property, 1416 OFF. GAZ. PAT. OFFICE 200 (July 21, 2015). This
simplified PPH pilot program was due to terminate on June 30, 2016.
Pursuant to continued commitments made in 2013 to enhance intellectual
property cooperation between both offices, the USPTO and IMPI remain
committed to the PPH pilot program. Accordingly, the USPTO and the IMPI
have agreed to extend the pilot until June 30, 2018.
All requirements for participation in the PPH pilot program remain
unchanged. Please see the above-referenced July 21, 2015 notice published
in the Official Gazette, for more information on the PPH pilot program with
the IMPI.
