(208)    Continuation of the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Pilot Program
        Between the United States Patent and Trademark Office and
               the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property

   On July 1, 2015, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
simplified the requirements and procedures for Patent Prosecution Highway
(PPH) program participation with the Mexican Institute of Industrial
Property (IMPI). See Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Pilot Program between
the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Mexican Institute of
Industrial Property, 1416 OFF. GAZ. PAT. OFFICE 200 (July 21, 2015). This
simplified PPH pilot program was originally scheduled to end on June 30,
2018. See Continuation of the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Pilot
Program between the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the
Mexican Institute of Industrial Property, 1428 OFF. GAZ. PAT. OFFICE 261
(July 26, 2016).

   Pursuant to continued commitments made in 2013 to enhance intellectual
property cooperation between both offices, the USPTO and IMPI remain
committed to the PPH pilot program. Accordingly, the pilot is extended
until June 30, 2020. Therefore, the USPTO will treat as timely any PPH
request based on IMPI work product filed in the USPTO on or before June 30,
2020. In addition, the USPTO will treat as timely any PPH request based on
IMPI work product filed in the USPTO between June 30, 2018, and the
publication date of this notice.
