1. A spring compression assembly configured to apply a load to a stack of electrochemical cells comprising:
a ceramic leaf spring;
a tensioner configured to apply pressure to a first side of the ceramic leaf spring; and
a bottom plate located on a second side of the ceramic leaf spring opposite the first side of the ceramic leaf spring, the bottom plate configured to transfer a load from the ceramic leaf spring to the stack of electrochemical cells; and
a ceramic block located on an end of the stack of electrochemical cells, the ceramic block interlocking with baffles located on one or more sides of the stack of electrochemical cells,
wherein the tensioner comprises a dome shaped tensioner having a curved side in contact with an upper surface of the ceramic leaf spring, and further comprising cylindrical rod shaped spring supports contacting edge portions of a lower surface of the ceramic leaf spring.
