1. An apparatus, comprising a first bipolar battery plate including:
a conductive silicon wafer;
a first mechanical support located on a first side of the conductive silicon wafer; and
a first active material adhered to the first mechanical support and the first side of the conductive silicon wafer, the first
active material having a first polarity;
a second mechanical support located on a second side of the conductive silicon wafer opposite the first side; and
a second active material adhered to the second mechanical support and the second side of the conductive silicon wafer, the
second active material having a polarity opposite the first active material;
wherein the conductive silicon wafer comprises a first silicide between the first active material and the bulk of the conductive
silicon wafer.
