1. A glass-ceramic article comprising:
a petalite crystalline phase; and
a lithium silicate crystalline phase,
wherein the petalite crystalline phase and the lithium silicate crystalline phase have higher weight percentages than other crystalline phases present in the glass-ceramic article, and
wherein the article is transparent and has a transmittance of at least 85% for light in a wavelength range from 400 nm to 1,000 nm at a thickness of 1 mm.
