The Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) will be open for business as usual on Friday, April 23, 1999. Any action or fee due on that day must be submitted that day in order to be considered timely.
The 50th Anniversary NATO Summit will be held in Washington, D.C., April 23 - 25, 1999. In order to minimize traffic congestion in and around the District of Columbia, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has indicated that certain executive branch employees whose duty stations are located within or immediately adjacent to a specifically defined geographic area in the District of Columbia will be excused from duty on Friday, April 23, 1999. Since the PTO does not fall within the area specified by the OPM, the PTO will be open on Friday, April 23, 1999.
Information regarding whether the PTO is officially closed on any particular day may be obtained by calling (800) 786-9199 or (703) 308-4357.
