Although electronic filing of forms is not mandatory, the USPTO urges all applicants and registrants to consider this option. For all electronic submissions, receipt in the USPTO is confirmed immediately through a success screen, and a separate e-mail summary of the filing is also provided. Electronic filing ensures that no papers are lost, and because no manual data entry is required, the quality of data within the USPTO database is greatly enhanced.
Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
Use TEAS to make both domestic and international trademark filings over the internet using online forms. A range of domestic forms are offered, covering all aspects of the application and registration process. Forms for filing under the Madrid Protocol are also presented. Payment is made by credit card, deposit account, or electronic funds transfer.
Trademark Assistance Center (TAC)
Use TAC to request a paper copy of the Basic Facts about Trademarks booklet, or to request paper forms for certain types of filings (not all filings require a specific type of form). The USPTO no longer offers PDF versions of its forms. TAC may be reached at (571) 272-9250 or (800) 786-9199 from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, except on holidays.
