Effective February 6, 2012, Mr. Craig Morris, the Managing Attorney for the Trademark Electronic Application System for the past 14 years, will leave that position to begin a new role at the USPTO, Managing Attorney for Trademark Outreach.
As follow-up to the 2011 Trademark Litigation Study, the USPTO is developing an action plan to implement specific outreach strategies for educational activities that will (i) focus on trademark fundamentals in addition to policing measures and tactics; and (ii) target an audience beyond the trademark bar to include other non-trademark attorneys, the small business community, the entrepreneurial community, and students. Commissioner Cohn has asked Mr. Morris to spearhead this effort, in part as a logical follow-up to the considerable outreach and educational duties he has performed related to TEAS.
She has also announced the selection of Ms. Tanya Amos to assume the TEAS role that Mr. Morris has previously filled. Ms. Amos has served as an examining attorney since 1999 and as trademark staff attorney in the Legal Policy Office since 2008.
A reminder that for any TEAS-related questions or problems, please contact TEAS@uspto.gov.
