USPTO upgrades Automated Interview Request form

The United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) Automated Interview Request (AIR) form simplifies scheduling interviews with patent examiners—whether virtually, by phone, or in person.

As of March 9, 2026, the AIR form has moved from the Interview Practice website to Patent Center. You can access it under the “Existing Submissions” dropdown menu in Patent Center. You will need Patent Center registration to access the site. After submitting the form, an examiner will respond within two business days to confirm your request.

For a quick overview, watch USPTO’s short video introducing the AIR form and how to use it to schedule interviews easily.

For more details on interview practice, visit the USPTO Interview Practice resource page.

If you have questions about the AIR form or interview practice, please contact ExaminerInterviewPractice@uspto.gov.
