Add stronger protection to your USPTO.gov account

We want to ensure your information is secure when you log in to your USPTO.gov account. If you’re now using a text message (SMS) or voice call to verify your identity when you log in, you must switch to a more secure multifactor method by April 30 to avoid any impact to your service.

Your options include:

  • Email verification
  • An authenticator application like Okta Verify
  • A security key or biometric authenticator

These updated authentication methods are less prone to phishing and social engineering attacks, resulting in stronger protection for your account.

You must configure one of these methods in your USPTO.gov account. More details are available on our informational webpage.

For assistance or questions, please call the USPTO Contact Center at 800-786-9199 (toll free) or 571-272-1000 (local).
