USPTO will incorporate updates to the Nice Classification in 2025

The Nice Classification simplifies and streamlines the classification of goods and services in trademark applications for customers around the world. It has been adopted by the contracting parties to the Nice Agreement, an international treaty recognized by over 90 countries.

The USPTO will publish an update to the ID Manual on January 1, 2025, to incorporate classification changes under the Nice Classification, Twelfth Edition, version 2025. To see a comprehensive list of all the new or changed entries, on or after January 1, 2025, please conduct an advanced search in the ID Manual using the exact date (“=” sign in the “Effective Date” dropdown menu) of January 1, 2025.
