USPTO extends deadline for comments on patent subject matter eligibility guidance update

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is extending the comment period for the guidance update titled “2024 Guidance Update on Patent Subject Matter Eligibility, Including on Artificial Intelligence” that was published in the Federal Register on July 17, 2024. The guidance update’s comment period, which was originally scheduled to end on September 16, 2024, is now extended to October 16, 2024. The extension ensures that all stakeholders have a sufficient opportunity to submit comments on the guidance update.
