Seeking nominations for the Council for Inclusive Innovation

The USPTO is seeking nominations to join its Council for Inclusive Innovation (CI²). The Council’s goal is to foster inclusive innovation and to encourage and support innovation from all inventors, entrepreneurs, creators, and others, including those who have traditionally been underrepresented in the innovation ecosystem. Council members will individually advise Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO Kathi Vidal on furthering the National Strategy for Inclusive Innovation and provide input on how the USPTO can work across government and with the private and academic sectors to promote more innovation for and from all—especially in key technology areas—to bring more innovation to impact.

As we continue to fulfill our mission to meet people where they are and connect them with the resources they need to be successful inventors and entrepreneurs, we look to our communities across America to nominate leaders who can advance this work, thereby increasing participation in our innovation economy and solving local, national, and international problems through creativity,” said Director Vidal.

Nominations should be emailed to CI2Leadership@uspto.gov with the subject line: “Council for Inclusive Innovation Nomination” by 5 p.m. ET on September 30, 2024. After that date, the USPTO may continue to accept nominations for one year to fill vacancies that may arise.

To learn more about the responsibilities of the Council and the nomination process, please read the Federal Register Notice. Questions can be submitted to CI2Leadership@uspto.gov.
