STEPP

Get a better understanding of how patent examiners make decisions at this three-day, in-person course August 21-23 at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu, Hawaii. We'll focus on how examiners use the Manual of Patent Examining Procedure to review patent applications.

Topics will include:

  • The steps an examiner takes when reading an application for the first time
  • How to plan and conduct a patent prior art search, including mapping prior art to claims
  • Writing an office action

The course involves optional pre-event homework, including reviewing several virtual training modules and reading a sample patent application.

Space is limited, and attendees must meet certain criteria to attend. Please submit an interest form by August 14.
