USPTO joins global IP leaders for panel on empowering women

Supporting more women and entrepreneurs of color is critical to America’s economic success. According to the World Bank, there would be economic gains in the order of $5-6 trillion if women were supported to start and scale new businesses at the same rate as men. That would mean the creation of more and better paying jobs in more communities. But we can’t achieve that without devoting more resources to successful strategies that support underserved inventors and entrepreneurs.

Join Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office Kathi Vidal as she attends a U.S. Chamber of Commerce event and speaks on a panel of international intellectual property (IP) leaders on Monday, July 10 at noon ET. Panelists will discuss current initiatives to recruit more entrepreneurs from underrepresented groups into the innovation ecosystem.

The discussion will feature IP leaders from Singapore, Bulgaria, Namibia, Argentina, and the United States.

Under Secretary Vidal will also moderate a panel of business leaders at the event to discuss how the public and private sectors can collaborate more closely to empower more women and underrepresented groups to pursue their innovative ideas and build their own portfolios.
