Strategies for protecting intellectual property in China: What San Diego businesses need to know
Join us on Friday, October 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PT as we welcome Kathi Vidal, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Congressman Darrell Issa, U.S. Representative for California's 48th Congressional District, industry experts, and seasoned practitioners to discuss how U.S. rights holders can protect and enforce their intellectual property (IP) in China and the United States.
This in-person, no-cost event, is one of a series of China IP Road Shows that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) conducts across the country, organized in cooperation with the USPTO's Office of Policy and International Affairs, U.S. Commercial Service San Diego, the San Diego and Imperial District Export Council, and the Knauss Center for Business Education, University of San Diego.
This program will focus on the needs of small and medium-sized businesses. Topics will include:
- What businesses need to know about protecting all types of IP in China
- IP developments in China: Challenges and opportunities in a shifting IP environment
- Enforcing IP rights, in both China and the United States, against infringement originating in China
- U.S. government resources for U.S. companies
- IP and China: The San Diego experience, featuring representatives from a wide variety of businesses in the San Diego area who will share their unique experiences
