Reminder: New electronic postcard notification option in Patent Center
Effective April 12, 2023, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO or Office) migrated all current Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (PAIR) Electronic Office (e-Office) Action participants to Patent Center e-Office Action. See the Federal Register Notice published on April 5 for details.
As indicated in the Notice, the Patent Center e-Office Action program offers a new option for users to receive courtesy postcards by email (e-postcards). The e-postcards remind users when their new Office communications have not been viewed within seven calendar days after receiving an email notification and when at least one of the Office communications requires the applicant's reply.
The default setting for courtesy postcards is U.S. postal mail. To receive them electronically instead:
- In Patent Center under the Manage menu, select "Manage customer numbers."
- On the "Edit customer number" screen, under "Outgoing correspondence," select the option to "Receive Correspondence Notification via Email."
- Refer to the e-Office Action Quick Start Guide for more detailed step-by-step instructions with screenshots.
Visit the e-Office Action page for more information about the transition and new features. For other assistance, questions, or feedback, email eMod@uspto.gov.
