Updated patent basics webpage
|
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has released a newly redesigned patent basics webpage on the USPTO website. The webpage is easily accessible from the USPTO.gov homepage.
Along with a fresh look and feel, the new content is easier to navigate as it breaks down the steps of the patent application process. Highlights include:
- Pre-application education: links explaining the different types of patents, cost, timelines, and how to get assistance with applications
- Application resources: links to the Application Assistance Unit and how to conduct a preliminary patent search
- Post-application resources: links for maintaining your patent or licensing it
- Post-grant entrepreneur resources: links to assist inventors and startups
- Videos: outlining the Patent Pro Bono Program, providing a roadmap to filing an application, and showing how to fill out a Micro Entity Status form
This work is part of a continuous effort to refine the USPTO.gov website based on stakeholder feedback and modern web principles.
You can send the web team feedback about these changes at OCCOfeedback@uspto.gov.
